Skill Simulator: What to Check When No Results Appear
If the Skill Simulator cannot find a build, start with the message under Results. Missing inputs, no matching builds, and a search that stopped early need different fixes.
This guide walks through the checks in order. For the basic controls, see the Skill Simulator manual.
1. Read the result message first
The page asks you to set conditions and search: no search has been run yet. Choose your conditions and press Search Builds.
You are asked to select a required skill, weapon type, or element: an input is missing. Even if the count says 0 results, address the input warning first.
No build matched the selected conditions: review required skill levels, the selected weapon, and armor exclusions using the steps below.
No candidates for a slot: the search has no eligible equipment left for that slot. For armor, check the ownership filter. For the weapon slot, check the weapon type, element, and weapon name.
The search stopped at 30 results or hit the node limit: this is different from finding no match. See section 6 for how to narrow the search.
2. Check Weapon Type, Element, and Required Skills
Both Weapon Type and Element are required. For a non-elemental weapon, select the None icon rather than leaving Element unselected. Weapon Name (optional) can stay on All while you troubleshoot.
Typing a name into Skill Search does not, by itself, add a search condition. Select a suggestion and check that the skill and its level appear under Required Skills. You need at least one required skill.
Newly added skills start at their maximum level. Fire Attack, for example, is added at Lv5. If you only need Lv1 or Lv3, use the minus button beside the level to lower it. After changing any conditions, press Search Builds again.
3. Add your requirements back one at a time
The simulator looks for a build that meets every selected skill level at the same time. Skills that are possible individually may not fit together in one build.
Keep just your highest-priority skill at the minimum level you need, then search. If results appear, restore the other skills and levels one at a time. The point at which results disappear helps identify which requirement needs adjustment.
If you selected a specific weapon, temporarily switch Weapon Name to All and compare. If that weapon is essential to your build, select it again after the test and adjust your skill requirements around it.
4. Review the Armor Ownership Filter
Open Configure under Armor Ownership Filter. Check whether a necessary armor series or individual piece has been disabled. The search needs eligible candidates for the head, chest, arms, waist, and legs.
To test with all armor, record your current exclusions first, for example with a note or screenshot. Use the control that enables all armor, close the filter, and run the search again. If results now appear, the excluded armor is likely relevant to satisfying the build requirements.
Enabling all armor also includes pieces you do not own. Restore your actual ownership restrictions after the test. The filter is saved in your browser, so reopening the page may keep earlier exclusions in place.
5. Match your driftsmelting and Style Enhancement assumptions
The simulator also checks whether missing skill levels can be supplied by supported drift skills within the available driftsmelting slots. A combination fails if a required missing skill cannot be supplied this way, or if there are not enough slots.
When results do appear, review Assigned Drift Skills. You still need to check whether you can obtain those skills on your equipment. The suggested assignments are not necessarily the driftsmelting skills you already own.
If your planned build relies on extra skills from Style Enhancement, check Include skills granted by Style Enhancement. For builds found with this option enabled, verify the required enhancement stage and your weapon’s actual progress. Leave it unchecked if you do not want to rely on Style Enhancement.
6. Narrow the search when it stops early
“Stopped at 30 results because there are at least 30 candidates.” means the result limit has been reached. It does not mean there are no builds. If a particular weapon is missing from the displayed list, select its name and search again.
A node-limit warning means the search stopped before it finished exploring the candidates. You cannot use that warning to conclude that no valid build exists. Narrow the search, for example by selecting a weapon name, and try again.
Loosen requirements when no matching build is found; narrow the search when there are too many candidates or the search stops early. The simulator also merges or omits candidates with equivalent effects to keep calculations manageable. Even a list with fewer than 30 results is not an exhaustive list of every valid combination.
7. Try a simple test search
1. Select Sword & Shield for Weapon Type and Fire for Element.
2. Leave Weapon Name on All.
3. Add Fire Attack as your only required skill.
4. Check its level. It starts at Lv5.
5. Check your armor exclusions and Style Enhancement setting, then press Search Builds.
When checked for this guide, this setup with Fire Attack Lv5, all armor enabled, and Style Enhancement unchecked returned 30 builds and the result-limit message. Results can change as equipment data or armor exclusions change. Once the test returns results, add your intended requirements one at a time.
8. If the button does not respond or the page fails to load
An unresponsive button, a blank page, or an error page is different from an ordinary no-match result. Record your settings before reloading. If the problem continues, try the same steps in another browser, remembering that armor exclusions can differ between browsers.
For a useful problem report, include the weapon type, element, weapon name, required skills and levels, armor exclusions, Style Enhancement setting, displayed message, and device and browser. Before sharing a screenshot, check that it does not contain unrelated personal information.
